SOHAM YOUNG FARMERS

One year kicked off with our club AGM where the new committee were keen to continue to push the club forward and have another fantastic year. This was followed by a new members night where we gained many new members.

We had two big aims this year: to fundraise as much as possible for our two charities, Alzheimers's UK and Parkinson's UK; and to gain new members of all ages and from all walks of life. Most importantly, we wanted everyone to have fun, be encouraged to try something new and help organise events out of our normal weekly meetings.

We had some fantastic Wednesday meetings, including the 'Soham YFC Bake Off', a talk from the RSPCA, pumpkin carving, Escape Rooms and talk from the Terrence Higgins Trust. Leading up to Christmas we got into the festive spirit by watching a pantomime and taking part in a Christmas Quiz hosted by Huntingdon YFC. As well as this, we had our Christmas meal, which the whole club enjoyed, along with Secret Santa which was a great laugh.

Into the New Year, our varied meetings continued with a chatterbox competition practice, lambing live, photo-booth building, a tour around a pig farm, sports competition and a curve module talk from Hannah Irons, our county trainer.

As well as our weekly meetings we have helped out in the local community and raised money for our two charities by putting up and taking down the Christmas Lights in Soham, stewarding the Ely bypass walk, organising a charity muck haul, and hosting our Valentine's party and Welly Ball.
